NanoGram Names Dr. Kieran Drain Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Drain will be charged with defining and managing NanoGram's long-term technology adoption roadmap. The roadmap includes building upon the company's success in optical nano-composites and applications of nanomaterials in energy products, while also innovating in areas such as self-assembled materials for electronics and composite structures for imaging applications.

Dr. Drain has more than 20 years industrial experience in technology and business management, both in the United States and internationally. Most recently, he served as vice president and general manager of Avery Dennison Corporation's worldwide performance polymers division where he successfully expanded the business in label, graphics and tape applications. Dr. Drain accomplished this by capitalizing on advances in pressure sensitive materials and specialty coatings.
While at Avery, Dr. Drain managed the creation of a start-up business in plastic displays and lithium batteries and directed licensing and joint development programs with OEM partners. Prior to Avery, Dr. Drain served in technical and business leadership roles at Ciba Specialty Chemicals and Loctite Corporation.

NanoGram's current application and customer specific developments include engineered nanocomposites for optical and electronic applications. The company's dielectric and conductive materials uses include electronic devices, interconnects and electrodes in batteries, fuel cells and solar cells. Since the Company's founding in 1996, NanoGram has collaborated with companies around the world to develop leading edge products and has built an intellectual property portfolio for these inventions comprising almost 100 internally developed patents.
Dr. Drain succeeds Tim Jenks as NanoGram's president and chief executive officer. Mr. Jenks also serves as president & CEO of affiliate company NeoPhotonics Corporation and will remain on the company's Board of Directors. Dr. Drain will also serve on the NanoGram Board of Directors, succeeding the company's chief operating officer, Ronald J. Mosso, in that role.
