Chase to Open 20 Branches in Texas Sunday to Help Customers Affected by Katrina

HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 9, 2005--Chase and Bank One will open 20 branches in Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Beaumont and Orange on Sunday to serve customers affected by Hurricane Katrina.

"These are extraordinary times, so we want to take care of customers with immediate financial needs as a result of Hurricane Katrina," said Alice Rodriguez, head of Chase and Bank One branches in Texas.

In addition to extending branch service hours, Chase is taking other steps to assist customers affected by the storm. Efforts include:

-- Operating 12 ATMs outside the Astrodome

-- Deferring payments on loans for up to 90 days and waiving late fees

-- Cashing Social Security and other government-issued checks for non customers with no fee

"Chase is the biggest bank in Louisiana and in Texas, so we have many customers who are either beginning the long process of rebuilding their lives or are making extraordinary sacrifices to help others in their hour of need," Rodriguez said.
