Biophan CEO Michael Weiner to Present Latest Biomedical Advancements at Boston University Nanotechnology Event; Biophan's Next-Generation Medical Innovations to be Featured at Upcoming 'Frontiers of Science within Nanotechnology Workshop'
The three-day workshop will feature an array of presentations of the latest research and views on the future of "The Science within Nanotechnology." CEO Michael Weiner, an invited speaker, will discuss Biophan's suite of cutting-edge healthcare solutions and proprietary technologies in a moderated discussion beginning at 2 p.m. on August 25.
“Biophan's research and development programs have yielded an extensive number of biomedical solutions at the leading-edge of nanotechnology”
"Biophan's research and development programs have yielded an extensive number of biomedical solutions at the leading-edge of nanotechnology," Mr. Weiner said. "These solutions include Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) visualization of restenosis in stents, visualizable vena cava filters, enhanced MRI contrast agents, active and controllable drug delivery, long-lasting power systems using bio-thermal energy, and other medical innovations. It is Biophan's intention to further advance scientific biomedical and pharmaceutical innovation and technology development for the benefit of improved healthcare products worldwide." Biophan's technologies also make medical devices safe for MRI.
Individual presentations will also address such topics as the roles of complex and correlated matter in nanotechnology. A plenary discussion will follow, providing a critical overview of the possible frontiers of science within nanotechnology.

About Boston University
Boston University's Physics Department, part of its College and Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, provides research opportunities in areas such as nanoscience, experimental high-energy physics and astrophysics, and polymer physics. Research in the Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering includes robotics, MEMS, and nanotechnology. Boston University, with an enrollment of more than 29,000 in its 17 schools and colleges, is the fourth largest independent university in the United States.
About Biophan Technologies
Biophan develops and markets cutting-edge technologies designed to make biomedical devices safe and image compatible with the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) environment. The Company develops technologies that enable implanted medical systems such as pacemakers, interventional surgical devices such as catheters and guidewires, and devices such as stents to be safely and effectively imaged under MRI. Biophan is developing these same technologies to provide new MRI contrast agents. Other applications include drug delivery and power systems derived from body heat. Four Biophan technologies include advances in nanotechnology and thin film coatings. Committed to growth through innovation and developmental leadership, Biophan and its licensors now hold a total of 144 U.S. patents, licenses, or applications. This total includes 41 issued U.S. patents, 9 recently-allowed applications that will issue as patents in the near future, and 94 pending applications at various stages of examination at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, plus international applications. The patents cover areas including nanotechnology (nanomagnetic particle coatings), medical device designs, radio frequency filters, polymer composites, thermoelectric materials for batteries generating power from body heat, and photonics. Biophan has joint development and licensing agreements with Boston Scientific (NYSE: BSX - News) and NASA's Ames Center for Nanotechnology. Biophan's goal is to make all biomedical devices capable of safely and successfully working with MRI, and delivering other technologies which will improve quality of life.
