Biophan to Exhibit at Medical Design and Manufacturing East 2005 Conference June 13-15, in New York City; Company's Advanced Technologies to be on View for the Medical Device Manufacturing Industry
Biophan representatives John Lanzafame, Biophan's Vice President, Business Development, and Tim Bibens, Biophan's Director of Operations, will be present to discuss Biophan's solutions and to meet with medical device manufacturers.
Biophan provides a range of proprietary technologies that make medical devices safe and/or image compatible within Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) systems. The Company is a leader in the development of nanotechnology and other solutions that eliminate safety concerns and image artifact problems that result when certain medical devices are placed within an MRI environment. Biophan's proprietary technologies are designed to enable patients with medical implants such as pacemakers, ICD's and neurostimulators to safely and effectively undergo MRI scanning, and for devices such as stents and vena cava filters to be effectively imaged under MRI. The Company's advanced solutions are also enabling the development of solutions for MRI-guided interventional procedures that were never before possible.
Biophan is also marketing a unique MRI-compatible ceramic motor, called the Squiggle(TM) that can be used for a number of advanced applications, such as drug pumps. The Squiggle(TM) motor boasts a simplified design and ultra-high precision. Biophan's Nanolution division develops nanotechnologies to enable improved drug delivery and drug elution from medical devices. And Biophan is working with NASA on a new battery for implanted devices that are powered by body heat instead of chemicals.
As part of its successful corporate strategy, Biophan files patent protection on the biomedical innovations that it develops. The Company currently has a total of 127 U.S. issued or pending patents, in addition to 46 international issued and pending patents.

About Biophan Technologies
Biophan develops and markets cutting-edge technologies designed to make biomedical devices safe and compatible with the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) environment. The Company develops enabling technologies for implanted medical systems such as pacemakers and interventional surgical devices such as catheters, guidewires, stents, and other implants to allow them to be safely and effectively imaged under MRI. The technology is also being used to create MRI contrast agents, and has expanded to include other applications, such as drug delivery and power systems derived from body heat. Four Biophan technologies include advances in nanotechnology and thin film coatings. Committed to growth through innovation and developmental leadership, Biophan and its licensors now hold a total of 127 U.S. patents, licenses, or applications. This total includes 37 issued U.S. patents, 8 recently-allowed applications that will issue as patents in the near future, and 82 pending applications at various stages of examination at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, plus international applications. The patents cover areas including nanotechnology (nanomagnetic particle coatings), radio frequency filters, polymer composites, thermoelectric materials for batteries generating power from body heat, and photonics. Biophan has joint development arrangements with Boston Scientific (NYSE:BSX) and NASA's Ames Center for Nanotechnology. Biophan's goal is to make all biomedical devices capable of safely and successfully working with MRI, and delivering other technologies which will improve quality of life.
