Health Language, Inc. to Present at TEPR 2005 Conference
Dr. Brian Levy, Chief Medical Officer and Senior VP of HLI will present a session entitled "The International Aspects of Terminology Implementation." During this presentation, Dr. Levy will explore the rapidly growing global trend to build local and national health IT infrastructures to connect cities, regions, and entire countries enabling them to share electronic health records. Large projects in England, Denmark, Scotland, Hong Kong are either underway or in the planning stages. In the United States, many regional health information networks are also in the planning and building stages. Terminologies are fundamental to all organizations developing health IT infrastructures and will allow for sharing and analyzing data among disparate applications.
“Language Engine Technology: Providing Standards and Architecture to Enable Wide-scale Interoperability.”
Dr. Geraldine Wade, Director of Medical Informatics for HLI will present "Language Engine Technology: Providing Standards and Architecture to Enable Wide-scale Interoperability." Dr. Wade will present a case study involving the largest interoperability project of Healthcare IT which is underway in the United Kingdom, where over 50 million people will have their medical records, e-Prescribing, appointment bookings, etc. done electronically. There, a Language Engine will be used to provide standards, terminologies and mappings between code sets where multiple vendors, system integrators, private companies and government agencies can access these same code sets. This technology provides the critical architecture component to the entire interoperability objective since standard terminologies are not embedded into all systems in use.
TEPR carefully selects its faculty to provide top-notch education sessions with a strong bias towards practical, pragmatic content. HLI is pleased to have members of their team invited back to present at this forum.
