Datastrip Group Selects Shera Technology for Manufacturing of Biometric Smart Card Terminals

KUNSHAN, China--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 23, 2005--Shera Technology (Kunshan) Co. Ltd., an American run Electronic Manufacturing Service (EMS) provider in China, today announced an agreement to provide manufacturing services to Datastrip Group Inc. for its DSVII(R) family of Biometric Smart Card Terminals.

"After an extensive search for an offshore contract manufacturer, Datastrip chose Shera Technology due to their commitment to superior quality, western management style, competitive pricing and lower volume commitment," says Brian Feick, Datastrip Group's Vice President of Finance and CFO. "This relationship with Shera Technology as a contract manufacturer for Datastrip is a perfect fit for our continued goals of quality and growth," he added.

“Shera's team is a well-trained, service-oriented group with a goal of providing high quality, lower cost products on time, every time.”

"Shera Technology is expanding our terminal, printer and peripheral expertise into the maturing technologies of Security and Biometrics. This new relationship with Datastrip is a great start," said Niko Crosetti, General Manager of Shera Technology. "Shera's team is a well-trained, service-oriented group with a goal of providing high quality, lower cost products on time, every time."

Security & Biometrics markets are showing a strong momentum of growth and are estimated to grow at double-digit rates in next five years.

Shera's Western management and culture enable corporations like Datastrip to capitalize on the benefits of doing business in Asia without falling prey to the many pitfalls still prevalent in offshore manufacturing.

The DSVII-SC terminal is a handheld WindowsCE.NET device specifically designed to provide identity verification by reading contact and contactless chips on identification documents and fingerprints. It supports optional internal wireless communication for data and fingerprint transmission for identity search and verification against a back-end system. Datastrip has recently announced the addition of three new swipe-style models, DSVII-SW, DSVII-PS and DSVII-PA. These new readers add an automatic 600dpi swipe-style scanner.
