Internet Archive’s NASAimages.org Announces Availability of High Resolution Image Downloads

NASA’s Vast Imagery Collection Now Available for Higher Quality Downloads for Printing and other Applications

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Internet Archive today announced that high resolution files are available for download directly from the NASAimages.org website.

“NASAimages.org offers unprecedented access to NASA science, exploration and aeronautics imagery”

The improved download features offer a choice of high or low resolution files for still images, allowing users to select the version best suited for their needs. Many images on the site have a dimension of 3000 pixels or higher, making them suitable for printing at up to 11 x 17 inches on most printers. The website still maintains NASA’s file naming conventions for easy organization.

“NASAimages.org offers unprecedented access to NASA science, exploration and aeronautics imagery,” said Jon Hornstein, Director NASA Images at The Internet Archive. “The new download features on the site allow the home user to customize the imagery for easy printing and viewing. We are excited about the opportunity these features give to enthusiasts, educators and scientists.”

NASA signed a Space Act Agreement with Internet Archive to create NASAimages.org so that NASA’s vast imagery collection would be more accessible to the public. Internet Archive’s NASAimages.org offers the first comprehensive collection of NASA imagery in a single, searchable on-line location, providing enthusiasts, researchers, news media and the general public easy, no-cost access to NASA’s vast collection of still and video imagery.
