Noetix Delivers Access to Data at FANUC AMERICA Following Oracle Implementation

FANUC AMERICA, a provider of factory automation and robotization to the manufacturing industry worldwide, had relied on a highly functional 25-year-old legacy IT system for all of their operational and business processing when the company made the decision to transition to Oracle E-Business Suite version 11.5.10 in 2007. Under the legacy system, the company’s end users had access to hundreds of custom reports, which were developed over the past two decades. They relied heavily on the IT department’s development strength to custom build the necessary business reports to satisfy both operational and executive demand. FANUC AMERICA’s situation changed dramatically after the Oracle implementation.
“When we first went live with Oracle, we lost significant accessibility to our data, along with ad hoc reporting and analytic capabilities,” said Zach Heuer, General Manager, Information Technology Division at FANUC AMERICA. “We literally had to start over when it came to accessing our data in Oracle. We couldn’t even report on simple things you’d typically take for granted with a package solution.”
This lack of access to information meant that FANUC AMERICA’s leadership was unable make the informed business decisions they had counted on in the past. Along with the worldwide economic slowdown, the company found itself in a tough situation.
After much due diligence, FANUC AMERICA purchased Noetix Platform, Noetix Search, and NoetixViews to access information within its more than 40 Oracle modules. “The implementation took approximately three weeks and at the end of that time we had access to 98 percent of our data out-of-the-box, running reports for all areas of the business,” said Heuer.
Today 30 end users representing management from all parts of the FANUC AMERICA business are using Noetix to independently access the data they require to create 20 to 30 new reports each month. The burden on IT to create custom reports has been relieved and the IT personnel that were previously dedicated to developing reports on a full time basis have been re-focused on other areas, providing a higher level of value to the business.
“We completed our implementation two months ago and we are amazed to see users creating so many quality reports and being so self-sufficient this quickly,” said Heuer.
Operational executives have reported back to Heuer that they are seeing huge benefits with the Noetix solution, and end users report they are able to make more informed decisions.
