Sarasota Memorial Health Care System Selects Medicity to Achieve “Meaningful Use” Through Health Information Exchange
HIE Solution to Foster Enhanced Care Coordination and Clinical Decision-Making for High Quality Patient Care
SALT LAKE CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Medicity, Inc. announced today that Florida-based Sarasota Memorial Health Care System, an 806-bed regional medical center that is ranked among “America’s Best Hospitals,” has selected the Medicity Novo Grid solution to electronically exchange health information between the hospital and physician practices. The Medicity solution will enable the leading health system to align with government initiatives that support “meaningful use” of EHRs for reimbursement under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), improve administration efficiency and reduce costs by eliminating manual (paper) methods of information distribution and exchange, and enhance patient care by providing comprehensive patient information in a more timely manner to physicians in their practice. Additionally, Sarasota Memorial Health Care System will use the platform to strengthen physician relationships and increase referrals from connected practices for laboratory and radiology procedures.
“The Medicity Novo Grid is fundamental to achieving ‘meaningful use’ of EHRs within the hospital and physician practices; thus, satisfying ARRA requirements for stimulus funding,” said Denis Baker, CIO of Sarasota Memorial Health Care System. “With the secure and scalable Medicity Novo Grid health information exchange solution, we will empower physicians with the clinical information needed to realize clinical process improvements and administrative cost savings while also attaining greater patient care quality and safety.”
Leveraging the Medicity technology, Sarasota Memorial Hospital can adapt to the needs of physicians wherever they are located on the technology adoption continuum, enabling clinical information such as laboratory, radiology, and transcribed results and notes to be seamlessly integrated into the physician’s EHR. In addition, those providers without EHRs can securely access patient information via the web, thereby supporting both automated and paper-based practices. All methods of health information exchange are deployed in a highly secure and scalable environment within a rapid timeframe.
“The Medicity Care Collaboration Platform promotes care coordination and improved patient safety while providing the foundation for participation in broader community health information exchange and physician outreach initiatives,” said Kipp Lassetter, M.D., Medicity’s CEO. “Sarasota Memorial Health Care System is clearly an innovator. We are honored to serve a true healthcare leader and look forward to helping them achieve continued success and results rapidly.”
