Sorenson Media Names Eric Quanstrom Vice President of Marketing and Strategy
Executive Team Expands, Promoting Kirk Punches as Vice President of Sales and Mark Ivins as Controller
SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sorenson Media today announced that Eric Quanstrom has joined the company as vice president of marketing and strategy. Quanstrom brings a combination of marketing, digital media, technology and strategic experience to this role and will guide programs to expand Sorenson Media’s established reputation as a leader in the online video industry. The company has also promoted two of its team members to executive management; Kirk Punches is now vice president of sales and Mark Ivins is controller.
“With the exponential growth we are seeing in the online video space, I am thrilled to join the Sorenson Media team,” Quanstrom said. “The strength of its products and focus on its customers has made Sorenson Media a recognized innovator and leader in the industry. The new Sorenson 360 video delivery network, for instance, is the most recent example of the company’s drive to provide a powerful video solution that meets the evolving needs of our customers.”
Previously, Quanstrom served as vice president of consumer marketing and business development at SightSpeed, which was acquired by Logitech in October 2008. Other past successes include roles as director of marketing and sales for Appellation America, an innovative online wine portal, and the West Coast head of the Fox Online Properties (FoxSports.com, FoxNews.com and Fox.com).
“Eric has an uncanny knack for understanding the trends within a market and strategically positioning a company visibly to take full advantage of these trends while also creating entirely new market segments. This ability will be an invaluable asset as Sorenson Media takes online video delivery to a new level,” said Peter Csathy, president and CEO of Sorenson Media. ”Eric joins my executive team, together with Kirk and Mark, both of whom have been promoted because they have proven themselves with their leadership, talent and dedication.” Chief Technology Officer Mike Flathers and Vice President of Product Management David Dudas round out the company’s executive team.
As vice president of sales, Punches will create strategic channel partnerships, define vertical market opportunities and manage day-to-day activities of the Sorenson Media sales team. Previously, Punches served as director of sales and has over 14 years of sales experience helping start-up technology companies build new business with an emphasis on long-term growth opportunities. He was director of sales for Launchpad Marketing Group and was named to Dealerscope magazine’s 2006 “40 under 40” list, which highlights the bright and dynamic leaders in the consumer electronics industry.
Ivins has been with Sorenson Media for two years and is responsible for upholding fiscal accountability throughout the company, as well as managing the accounting, reporting and cash management activities for the company. Prior to joining Sorenson Media, Ivins was assistant controller for payment processing company Authorize.Net and controller for KeyStone Learning Systems, a video-based software training company.
