Eclipsys Targets Ambulatory Surgery Centers with New Release of PeakPractice Solution
Enhanced Functionality Combines Clinical Documentation, Electronic Billing and Advanced Inventory Management in a Single, Web-Based Solution
ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Eclipsys Corporation® (NASDAQ: ECLP), The Outcomes Company®, today announced it is unveiling a new version of its PeakPractice™ solution featuring unique functionality directly aimed at the clinical and financial needs of ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs). New functionality in the integrated, award-winning, .Net-based electronic medical record (EMR)/practice management (PM) solution features an enhanced supply chain module that supports creation of a single solution that automates inventory supply management, clinical documentation and billing processes. Eclipsys will showcase PeakPractice at the ASCs 2009 show at Booth No. 320, April 22-24 in Nashville, TN.
Moving beyond what has historically been managed by paper-based processes and/or disparate information systems, PeakPractice offers ASCs a turnkey, integrated solution that automates perioperative admissions, charting/documentation, physician preference of equipment and surgical supplies by procedure, as well as advanced supply chain management. In addition, unique functionality supports electronically filing for both professional (HCFA 1500) and facility (UB04) billing. Integration capabilities with the physician office EMR database also enable physicians utilizing an ASC for outpatient surgeries to gain single charting capabilities to avoid recreating the patient record.
Improved Cash Flow from Advanced Supply Chain Management
As an integrated component of the PeakPractice EMR/PM software, the Eclipsys PeakPractice SC™ (supply chain) management module is designed to track inventory effortlessly by determining which supplies are used with each scheduled procedure and passing that information on to the practice management system for more accurate billing. Inventory items are tied to patient appointments to create work lists and reports on estimated usage for time ranges into the future. These capabilities, plus built-in vendor management features help practices to maintain the right balance of supplies without tying up cash flow. The module is designed to help practices manage and accurately bill for everything from medical supplies such as gloves, bandages and medications to equipment and instruments.
“Inventory is cash on the shelf,” says Tom Cooke, vice president and general manager of Eclipsys’ Practice Solutions group. “The unique capabilities we’ve built into this new version of PeakPractice offers ASCs new opportunities for optimized clinical efficiency, better management of fixed and variable costs and to minimize the inherent complexities involved in outpatient surgical billing and collections, which are critical to financial viability.”
Eclipsys’ PeakPractice is an integrated, award-winning, .NET-based ambulatory EMR/PM solution that also includes e-prescribing patient portals, patient kiosk, image management and Web portal for physicians and patients. The EMR/PM solution enables practices to gain full control over both sides of their business, focusing on the financial health and operational excellence while promoting highest-quality patient care.
The solution is one aspect of Eclipsys’ enterprise portfolio of offerings that support connecting community-based practices with acute-care hospital and healthcare systems. Eclipsys’ PeakPractice Version 1093 is a pre-market, conditionally CCHIT Certified® 08 Ambulatory EHR with additional Child Health certification, pending advanced e-prescribing and operational use verification.
