Comtech AHA Announces Windows Server Support for AHA363-PCIE GZIP Compression/Decompression Accelerator

AHA363-PCIE Offers Windows Server Support of Hardware Compression for Web Server and Storage Applications

MOSCOW, Idaho--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Comtech AHA Corporation (Comtech AHA), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Comtech Telecommunications Corp. (NASDAQ:CMTL), today announced the availability of Windows server support for its AHA363-PCIE GZIP compression board.

This server support includes Windows specific driver support to allow customers to use the AHA363-PCIE board as the compression engine, rather than software GZIP and/or ZLIB. This new driver, when combined with the AHA compression accelerator board, can compress both static and dynamic content in real time. The bandwidth saved by compressing Web content before sending via the Internet, creates a better user experience by reducing download time and link requirements.

Compressing content with hardware, rather than software, increases the number of users that can be handled by the Web server. Hardware compression through the AHA card is typically ten times faster than equivalent software compression. Storage servers can also use hardware compression to decrease their storage footprint, especially in high-speed applications.

Comtech AHA’s AHA363-PCIE plug in adapter card, with data rates of 5.0 gigabits per second, is the only GZIP compression/decompression solution available that offers the high speed performance required by today’s Web servers, networking and storage systems. The AHA GZIP board improves speed and performance for systems requiring both compression and decompression functions. The AHA363-PCIE adapter card is compliant with open standard compression algorithm GZIP – also known as deflate – for the highest performance of any hardware compression solution on the market today.

Pricing and Availability

The Windows server support is currently available free of charge with the purchase of an AHA363-PCIE board. The source code is also available. Please contact AHA by phone at 208-892-5600 or via e-mail at sales@aha.com for more information.
