Health Evolution Partners Announces Agenda for Innovation 2009 Annual Conference
Summit to Explore Impact of Economic Environment and Health Reform On Health Care Innovators and Investors
SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--David J. Brailer, MD, PhD, Chairman of Health Evolution Partners, released the agenda for the Tenth Annual Innovation 2009 Conference. The conference is focused on how CEOs and health care thought leaders should navigate the current economy and health reform. The invitation-only CEO attendees will be asked to “roll up their sleeves” and confront challenges that affect their firms and customers.
“We have concentrated our focus on how companies can drive change, accomplish innovation, and engineer bold new directions to take advantage of the current environment”
“We considered canceling the conference in light of the difficult economy. However, given the widespread concern about how the financial crisis affects health care innovation at a time when health care reform is likely, this conference is more urgent than ever,” said Dr. Brailer, former Bush Administration National Health IT Coordinator. “We have concentrated our focus on how companies can drive change, accomplish innovation, and engineer bold new directions to take advantage of the current environment,” Brailer asserts. “The new conference theme, ‘Building Disruptive Firms in a Disruptive Economy’, frames how the conference will help CEOs navigate the dual challenges of the financial crisis and health reform.”
Brailer has expanded the agenda to include additional sessions calibrated toward navigating complex challenges. Top experts such as Nancy Johnson, health care innovation champion and former Congresswoman, will deliver an update from Washington on the recent stimulus package and Kerry Weems, former Administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, will bring a greater awareness of the role of innovation in Medicare & Medicaid. Drilling down on sessions like “Navigating Current Capital Financing Markets” and “Bringing Innovation to Scale: The Entrepreneurial Journey” will enable CEOs to understand how to maintain the vision. McKesson CEO, John Hammergren, will guide the start-up CEOs on what has worked for McKesson and how he has survived previous economic downturns. Former Governor and Health and Human Services Cabinet Secretary Mike Leavitt will talk about his leadership in innovations and present an Innovator of the Year Award. CEOs such as Kyle Rolfing of RedBrick Health, Ido Schoenberg of American Well and Dan Palestrant of Sermo will address special sessions geared toward navigating and disrupting health care with innovation best practices.
The Innovation 2009 Conference is an invitation-only event attracting more than one-hundred of the top health care innovators and leaders for peer-to-peer sharing. The conference is scheduled to take place on April 23-25, 2009, at the Four Seasons Aviara Resort in Carlsbad, California.
