Mobius Microsystems Adds Vice Presidents of Sales and Operations
Mobius Strengthens Team with Two Experienced Industry Executives and Prepares for Production Ramp
SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mobius Microsystems Inc., an innovator in precision timing ICs, today announced the appointment of two experienced industry executives to senior positions at the company. Joining as vice president of sales is R. Scott Hills and, as vice president of operations, Ed Armstrong. Both will report to chief executive officer, Ashok Dhawan.
Before joining Mobius as vice president of operations, Mr. Armstrong served in that capacity at several successful semiconductor startups including Summit Microelectronics, Reflectivity, which was purchased by TI in 2006, and Arithmos, purchased by STMicroelectronics in 1999. Mr. Armstrong’s broad industry experience includes management roles in operations, process development, engineering and wafer fab management at Western Digital, Hughes Semiconductor and Intel. Mr. Armstrong holds a B.S. in Physics, as well as an M.S.E.E., and an M.B.A. from the University of California, Irvine. He has published 10 papers in manufacturing and technical journals, and holds 12 patents.
Mr. Hills joins Mobius with over 24 years' experience in semiconductor sales management, most recently as vice president of worldwide sales at Semicoa, a leading provider of high reliability discrete devices. Mr. Hills’ broad industry background includes senior sales management roles at large semiconductor companies including Dialog Semiconductor, Cirrus Logic and AMD; and at successful start-up firms including IC Media and Silicon Motion. He also served as director of North American Sales at ARC international, a leading provider of microprocessor core IPs. Mr. Hills received a B.S.El. from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.
Mobius Microsystems’ patented CMOS Harmonic Oscillator (CHO™) technology allows a new era in frequency generation, achieving unprecedented accuracy levels with CMOS-only oscillators, and matching the performance requirements of today’s common high-speed interface links. CHO technology allows today’s mainstream electronics to finally be rid of the last non-CMOS component, a quartz-based resonator, and achieve the highest levels of integration.
Said Mr. Dhawan, “We’re very happy to have Ed and Scott join our team in these strategic positions. Their respective individual backgrounds, and their combined expertise in operations and sales, are ideally suited as we enter the product portfolio growth phase at Mobius. We now have a world class team in place to capitalize on the huge growth opportunity ahead of us with our unique CHO technology.”
About Mobius Microsystems Inc. (www.mobiusmicro.com)
Mobius Microsystems, a fabless semiconductor start-up, is an innovator in precision timing ICs, and is the first company to implement highly accurate oscillators entirely in standard CMOS. This is a significant technical breakthrough in frequency generation, which up to now was served by quartz crystals and crystal oscillators. Mobius’ patented CMOS Harmonic Oscillator (CHO) is a monolithic IC and offers system designers a frequency reference with excellent phase noise and jitter performance. In addition to size and frequency advantages over quartz crystals, the programmable CHO IC also significantly shortens the manufacturing cycle time to best respond to fluctuating demands of the market. Mobius Microsystems is funded by leading venture capital firms. Its headquarters are located at 111 W. Evelyn Avenue, Suite 210, Sunnyvale CA 94086; (408) 739-5400; info@mobiusmicro.com.
