Sunquest Adds Vice President of Business Development Derek Eckelman to Executive Team

TUCSON, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sunquest Information Systems, Inc., a market leader in laboratory and diagnostic information systems, today announced that Derek S. Eckelman has been named as its new vice president of Business Development. Derek brings nearly 10 years of experience in mergers & acquisitions as well as general corporate and contractual law. He will oversee and drive Sunquest’s strategic business initiatives and relationships in support of the company’s revenue growth and global market expansion strategy.

Derek most recently served as chief operating officer and general counsel for Allen Systems Group, Inc., a privately-held, international company with 90 offices worldwide and 1,200 employees that provide systems management software to Global 2000 companies and governmental agencies.

Derek was with Allen Systems Group, Inc. from 1999 to present where he led more than 30 acquisitions which added $250 million in revenue. Prior to his most recent positions as chief operating officer and general counsel, Derek was the senior vice president of mergers and acquisitions. Currently, Allen Systems Group, Inc. has over $300 million in revenues and 1,200 employees.

Before Allen Systems Group, Inc., Derek was an associate with the Smetana & Avakian Law Firm in Chicago, Illinois. He received his Juris Doctor degree from Washington University School of Law and Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Washington University in St. Louis, MO. Derek passed the Florida State Bar in 1999 and Illinois State Bar in 1998.
