Russell Fine, Co-Founder YouBet.com, Founds Opposing Views, Secures $1.25 M in Series A Funding
LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Opposing Views, a media company that will give millions of people opposing views from experts on issues and questions they face every day, has completed the first close of its Series A financing with $1.25 million secured.
Led by Frontera Group, Series A participants include Gil Elbaz, co-founder, Applied Semantics; Russell Fine, CEO, Opposing Views; and several other private technology investors.
Opposing Views gives the general consumer one place to get all sides of the truth from experts and opinion leaders on issues they face each day. Experts go head-to-head on topics and questions about political issues, health, personal finance and parenting, allowing users to quickly become well-informed, make decisions and take action.
The secured funds will be applied toward launching the company’s Web site, bringing the first 100 experts on board and implementing media partnerships. Opinions and views will be provided by experts from associations such as the NRA, PETA and the Sierra Club.
“I believe in Opposing Views’ vision and look forward to working closely with them to see that vision realized,” said Elbaz.
“People face issues every day. No other media company gives them one place to get all sides of the truth so that they can quickly become informed. The proprietary format and technology are a key factor in the equation,” said Eric Manlunas, managing partner, Frontera Group.
“In addition to financing, our investors provide a wealth of experience to Opposing Views and will actively work with the company to bring forth this new media platform,” Fine said.
Fine, a successful serial entrepreneur, is the cofounder of YouBet.com, an online real-time horse racing site. The firm recently reached a pinnacle of $2 billion in online wagers. He is also chairman of Accuscore, a sports media company.
Opposing View’s service will be in beta this summer.
