NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Howcast Media today announced distribution agreements with AOL, Metacafe, Bebo, and blip.tv, providing consumers with high quality, engaging instructional videos through more channels. Howcast brings together the creativity of user-generated content with the quality of a professional video studio, offering how-to videos that appeal to consumers, as well as advertisers and distribution partners. The expansion of Howcast's content to these new channels opens the doors for more than 87 million online viewers.
“By integrating Howcast into AOL Living, we are providing our consumers with high quality how-to videos”
“We want to be able to deliver our how-to videos to viewers wherever and whenever they are online,” said Jason Liebman, CEO and co-founder of Howcast. “Expanding our distribution to these new channels allows us to reach more people than ever before. When someone wants to know how to do something, they can find our how-to content on a wide range of online destinations - they can find it on whatever site is convenient to them. These new entry points for viewers really complement our own destination site, Howcast.com."
AOL and Bebo are displaying Howcast content using Howcast's customizable player. Each channel is showing Howcast content that appeals to its target audience and engages those viewers where and when they like to experience watching videos.
"By integrating Howcast into AOL Living, we are providing our consumers with high quality how-to videos," said Stephanie Dolgins, senior vice president and general manager, AOL Living. "We're always trying to give our audience tips and advice they can use in their daily lives and Howcast's entertaining and practical videos are a great addition to our offerings."
“By bringing quality content to Bebo's revolutionary Open Media platform, Howcast is able to develop a deep level of engagement and distribute content where audiences are congregating online – in particular, amongst that hard-to-reach youth demographic," said Ziv Navoth, senior vice president of marketing and business development at Bebo. “Howcast can now embed its own video content into our social networking environment, monetize that content and deliver an exceptional experience to our 42 million strong community.”
Each of the new Internet distributions channels partnering with Howcast are reaching audiences interested in a range of subjects from Howcast’s video collection.
“Howcast is producing exactly the type of high-quality content that blip.tv was built to serve,” said blip.tv COO Dina Kaplan. “We’re really glad to make this content available to the blip.tv audience so that our viewers can learn everything from how to make a Kappa Maki sushi roll to how to extend the life of an iPod battery.”
The increased distribution of content benefits the Howcast network of emerging directors by increasing exposure for their work. This also means that the revenue they share with Howcast will grow as the audience expands.
"Teaming with Howcast brings additional entertaining how-to videos to our site, a genre that is very popular among our 30 million viewers," said Scott Bushman, vice president of business development for Metacafe. "We're pleased to help Howcast's network of emerging directors gain additional exposure among our audience and build their fan base through our community-powered recommendation engine."
With video content and communities organized around specific topic categories, Howcast provides a wealth of opportunities for distribution and advertising partners. Howcast videos are available on a variety of platforms, including web, mobile and broadcast. In addition to the new channels announced today, Howcast has signed distribution agreements with Myspace, YouTube, Verizon FiOS TV, Joost, and ROO. Howcast videos are also available on the iTunes® Store as video podcasts.
