All Aboard the Spring Lake Winery “Wine Train”
Truly Unique and Tasteful Experience
LOCKPORT, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The “Wine Train” – brainchild of the popular 78-acre Spring Lake Winery along the Niagara Escarpment in Lockport and the nearby Medina Railroad Museum -- is back and better than ever. Starting the last Sunday of this month (May 25th), and running through October 26th, passengers can climb aboard for a 1/2-day excursion in vintage 1947 Budd coaches through the beautiful Niagara County countryside, complete with a Continental breakfast onboard the train, to the Spring Lake Winery for a wine tasting at the Tuscan-style stone winery, with lunch on the grill and music by an 18-piece jazz band as they relax by the picturesque 8-acre lake.
Guests can also enjoy peaceful strolls through the woods along the winery’s many walking paths and pick up an assortment of mementos at the Gift Shop. The cost for the train ride, as well as a 1-hour tour of the historic Medina Railroad Museum, with lunch, music and exquisite wine is just $39 per adult and $20 per child. But tickets go fast, so Spring Lake manager Dominic Varallo encourages booking your excursion as soon as possible by calling the winery at 1-716-439-LAKE. “Last year, the first year we had the Wine Train, each of the available 277 seats was taken at least one month in advance,” said Varallo. “The Wine Train was a huge hit, and with the increasing popularity of all the wineries along the Niagara Wine Trail, we expect this season’s excursions to be even more in demand.”
Dr. and Mrs. Varallo, who own and operate the winery, said that guests may want to consider an overnight stay at the Spring Lake Winery’s signature room at the upscale boutique Barton Hill Hotel and Spa in Lewiston, just minutes from Niagara Falls. They can also enjoy a recently created wine and golf package with privileges at the Town and Country Club of Lockport.
