City University of Seattle Creates New Business Program for Global Marketplace
Master of Arts in Leadership Provides Flexible Class Options for Busy Executives
BELLEVUE, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--City University of Seattle has created a new business program within the School of Management that will challenge leaders to build diversity in the workplace and develop strategies for global expansion. The Master of Arts in Leadership (MAL) will be delivered in multiple formats for students who wish to take classes online, in-class, or in combination. The program, that begins in the fall of 2008, will be available online and at City University of Seattle in Renton.
The MAL program was created with the help of an advisory team that was comprised of representatives from Boeing, Microsoft, branches of the military, Weyerhaeuser, Allstate Insurance, GreaterChina-USA, Creative Communications, Inc., and international partners from Slovakia, Czech Republic, China and Mexico. CityU of Seattle’s MAL program provides program participants the opportunity to earn standalone certificates in Change Leadership or Global Leadership as well as the full MAL. Credits earned for the certificates may be applied to the full Master of Arts in Leadership degree at a later time, providing working executives several flexible program solutions.
The Change Leadership certificate is 18 credits and includes the following courses: Exploring Leadership, Organizational Systems Coaching, Synthesizing Leadership, Leading Change in Diverse Organizational Cultures, Ethical Leadership, and Critical Thinking and Innovation. The Global Leadership certificate is 15 credits and includes the following courses: Global Leadership, Leading Teams, Strategic Planning, Evaluating Employees, and Social and Environmental Responsibility. The addition of a final project, practicum or internship completes the MAL.
“The MAL program is a truly comprehensive leadership program that prepares graduates for work in the public, private and non-profit sectors,” comments Kurt Kirstein, Dean, City University of Seattle, School of Management. “The strong focus on critical thinking, transformational and transactional leadership models, problem solving, communication, ethics, global perspectives and effective change implementation builds a solid foundation so graduates will be successful leaders in any industry.”
