From Tripod to iPod: Signiant Streamlines Digital Media Supply Chains for Telco, Media & Entertainment Companies Worldwide with DMDMS 8.0
Digital Media Distribution Management Enables Seamless, Automated Content Syndication and Multi-Vendor Integration
BURLINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Signiant®, Inc., the leading developer of digital media distribution management solutions for the telco, media and entertainment industries, today introduced Version 8.0 of its Digital Media Distribution Management Suite (DMDMS). DMDMS 8.0 increases the efficiency of content creation, management and distribution within a digital media supply chain, from “Tripod to iPod.”
As digital media moves through the digital media supply chain, it can involve numerous time-consuming and manual tasks, from encoding content for deliverability, to checking content in and out of asset management repositories, watermarking to ensure security, and formatting for its end destination. Signiant DMDMS 8.0 gives network administrators unprecedented flexibility in designing globally distributed workflows to automate each of these steps, ensuring seamless management, acceleration and security of file transfers.
To further enhance its automated workflows, DMDMS 8.0 also includes extensive integration with industry leading media applications with open API’s, allowing telco, media and entertainment companies to seamlessly speed digital content distribution between different vendor technologies employed in the editing room, without spending time and money on manual tasks, technology integration or costly professional services. For example, digital media edited with one vendor’s system can be easily sent to another facility that is using another vendor’s technology, such as Avid® Interplay® and Avid TransferManager, whether it’s around the corner or across the country.
“With multiple decision points in a digital media supply chain, the tools used to edit and distribute digital media vary from production to production, especially within a large media company,” said Tony Lapolito, vice president of marketing, Signiant. “By streamlining the process to get digital content to market, Signiant’s DMDMS provides telco, media and entertainment companies with the opportunity to easily syndicate digital content, quickly delivering assets in formats required for consumption on TV, Internet and beyond. This ensures time-to-market, high quality content and enables them to capitalize on alternative digital media distribution outlets.”
Specifically, new functions in DMDMS version 8.0 include: a Workflow Modeling Engine (WME), enabling complex workflows involving many media applications to be built using an intuitive drag and drop toolbox and canvas; the Universal Transport Adapter (UTA), allowing alternative transport protocols to be aggregated into a single management console and workflow; and the Universal Services Adapter (USA) which enables legacy non-Web Services products and systems to be integrated into a Web Services infrastructure.
The product will be generally available in Summer 2008. Signiant will demonstrate product capabilities in booth SL13213 next week at NAB. To schedule a demo, please contact nab@signiant.com
