New Commtouch Anti-Zombie Service Detects Internet Threats
New Web-Based Stats Lab Tracks Global Zombie Activity, Identifies Zombie “Hot Spots”
SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Commtouch (NASDAQ:CTCH) today announced the availability of its new GlobalView™ Zombie Intelligence Service, which provides real-time data about zombies and their behavior.
“Zombies are a critical problem since they are responsible for the majority of malicious activity on the Internet,” said Michael Osterman, Principal Osterman Research. “Zombies are the perpetrators of DDoS attacks, click fraud, and credit card fraud, and they often host malware sites.”
GlobalView Zombie Intelligence is designed to enable vendors of security, intrusion prevention, intrusion detection, anti-fraud and anti-DDoS products to augment their solutions with anti-zombie offerings for their customers.
The new anti-zombie service is the company’s first web security offering, and is expected to be followed by other new web security services during 2008.
“No sector is immune from the threat of zombies,” said Amir Lev, Commtouch’s chief technology officer and president. “Companies are at risk from data leakage and distributed denial of service attacks, banks and their customers may be targeted for fraudulent activities such as financial scams and identity theft and Internet media companies lose revenue daily from click fraud.”
