High School Students Nationwide Will Vote for Zinch.com’s $20,000 Scholarship
PROVO, Utah--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Zinch.com, creators of the innovative social interaction tool for college admissions, announced today that final judging for its $20,000 Sweet Diggity Dawg Scholarship will be decided by high school students worldwide. In light of the upcoming college basketball championship, winners will be chosen through an online bracket and elimination-style contest to begin on March 3, 2007.
Zinch.com will give profiled students and their peers the chance to choose the winner of the Sweet Diggity Dawg Scholarship. The students chosen for each elimination round will be decided by popular vote. For each round, Zinch.com will open its site, letting visitors view competing applicants’ profiles and submit a vote for the student they feel most deserves the Sweet Diggity Dawg Scholarship. The scholarship winner will be announced on Zinch.com on April 23, 2007.
Zinch co-founder and Princeton University student Mick Hagen says, “We got to the final stage of judging and realized — we can’t make this decision alone. Zinch exists to empower students and to make their voices heard. What better way to do that than by letting students decide the winner of our most prestigious award? We believe they are in a great position to help with this decision.”
Visitors can participate in the competition and cast their vote by visiting Zinch’s college admissions Web site. The diverse pool of more than 200 semifinalists represents each region of the country.
Zinch hopes that by opening this tournament to voters, students will see, once again, how they are much more than a test score. Zinch’s “I am more than a test score” mantra seeks to promote confidence, enthusiasm and a college-going mentality among high school students.
Zinch is a free online service that facilitates pre-college admissions communication between high school students and college admissions officers. Zinch facilitates interaction between students and college admissions officers by allowing students to create free, comprehensive, and searchable profiles.
