Social Networking Site NursesRateDoctors.com Changes Name to NursesRecommendDoctors.com
New Name Better Reflects Site’s Goal to Help Consumers Identify Excellent Physicians
SOLVANG, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--CareSeek Inc. today announced that it renamed its online social networking platform from NursesRateDoctors.com to NursesRecommendDoctors.com to better reflect its goal of providing consumers with nurses’ recommendations on excellent physicians that provide quality care. CareSeek renamed the online platform, where nurses anonymously share their personal insights on physicians, based on feedback from more than 1,000 nurses at the 2007 American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) National Magnet Conference who reviewed the site. ANCC is the leading nursing credentialing organization in the U.S.
“We are excited to see that our vision of 'getting better- together' is more than just a tag line.”
“The nurses fully support our goal to share their informed and trusted opinions to help consumers identify excellent physicians, but they were concerned that the previous name implied that the site would accentuate negative information,” said Gale Wilson-Steele, CareSeek's founder and CEO. “They wanted us to emphasize that they preferred to share positive information, which is even more relevant for selecting the right physician. We listened to their suggestions and aligned the name of the site with nurses' intentions to raise the bar in quality care by encouraging physicians to emulate the best practices of their peers.”
CareSeek launched the renamed NursesRecommendDoctors.com earlier this month at the 39th Biennial Convention of the Honor Society of Nursing, where nurse educators joined the site and added their reviews. "When we did see lower physician ratings we also saw equally constructive commentary that could help a physician improve his or her practice," said Wilson-Steele. "We are excited to see that our vision of 'getting better- together' is more than just a tag line."
Kim McAllister, a veteran emergency room registered nurse in San Francisco, praised the change. "The new name showcases the site’s focus on "recommending" rather than just “rating” physicians. Nurses are always asked, ‘Do you know a good doctor?’ Well, now they can post their opinions about the doctors they work with and refer people to the site."
NursesRecommendDoctors.com is seeking 1 million physician reviews from nurses throughout the country. Since the free online consumer service was launched in September, several hundred nurses have posted between 1 and 50 physician reviews each. "We have a long way to go to meet our goal, but if the enthusiastic response we have received from nurse participants and their eagerness to share information about the site with their colleagues is extended to all 3 million nurses and allied health professionals, we are confident that we can achieve it,” stated Wilson-Steele.
