CIGNA Names Bill Atwell President of International Unit

PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--CIGNA Corporation (NYSE:CI) has named William (Bill) Atwell as president of CIGNA International reporting to David Cordani, president and chief operating officer, CIGNA Corporation.

Atwell brings to CIGNA more than 30 years of experience in the banking, brokerage and insurance industries both in the U.S. and abroad. Most recently he has been a consultant for the retail financial services industry. Previously he held a number of senior level positions at The Charles Schwab Corporation, where he was responsible for Schwab’s broad array of products and services for individual investors. He also led their efforts to build their international business.

This is Atwell’s second tour of duty with CIGNA. From 1996 to 2000 he held the position of senior vice president, national sales and delivery network, CIGNA HealthCare, where he was responsible for significantly growing sales and membership. Prior to that he was responsible for Citibank’s retail banking business in Belgium, France, and Luxembourg.
