TIGroup Partners with AccessCare to Provide Improved Dialysis Service
Company Signs Agreement to Provide Critical Dialysis Care in Rural Markets of Oklahoma
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Tri-Isthmus Group, Inc. (TIGroup) (Pink Sheets:TISG), a provider of financial solutions to the healthcare industry, today announced that it has entered into a long-term agreement with AccessCare Dialysis, LLC (AccessCare) to provide dialysis services in rural Oklahoma.
AccessCare provides dialysis services in small and rural markets in the southwestern United States. The company operates two dialysis centers in rural Texas and plans to build five additional centers in Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma during 2008. The first dialysis center to be developed under this agreement will be located at TIGroup’s medical center in Stroud, Oklahoma, and is scheduled to open in late August of 2008.
TIGroup Chairman and CEO David Hirschhorn said, “We estimate there are approximately 340,000 patients in the US that require dialysis as a result of chronic kidney failure, many of whom need treatment three times per week. Due to demographic trends, increased incidence of diabetes and lower mortality rates, the number of new patients needing dialysis is unfortunately increasing every year. We believe this agreement with AccessCare is a significant step towards dramatically improving the quality of life for dialysis patients in the rural US. This joint venture in Stroud demonstrates the improved quality of care and superior clinical outcomes that TIGroup can bring to a region by leveraging the value of our real estate and hospital operations.”
Marty Sholder, Executive Vice President of AccessCare, said, “We founded AccessCare to provide dialysis services based on the needs of patients as opposed to the convenience of center operators. We can do this by building smaller, more personal local centers that put patients first. The development of the new Stroud dialysis center will be the first of several we will build in the rural southwestern US. The days of dialysis patients traveling long distances multiple times per week will soon be a thing of the past.”
“Dialysis affects the lives of not only the patient, but the family as well,” added John Hedrick, Executive Vice President of AccessCare. “With the help of TIGroup, we are giving those patients and families their lives back. Our motto is ‘Access to Care in your Hometown’ and we mean it.”
