Back Yard Burgers Sponsors Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis’ Annual Steak N Burger

NASHVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--For the sixteenth year, Back Yard Burgers sponsored the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis’ Steak N Burger event. As a part of their mission to practice family values through community action Back Yard Burgers was the sole provider of burgers for the event and prepared food for the night.

The event was held on Thursday, April 17, at the Memphis Zoo. Back Yard Burgers had 50 volunteers in attendance that prepared all food and cleaned up after the event. More than 750 people attended the event and raised $289,000.

“The Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis are blessed to have such a wonderful partnership with Back Yard Burgers on our biggest fundraising effort,” said special events coordinator for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis Hyun Cho. “Anyone who has ever tried to serve 700 people in one night knows it's almost impossible but they do it in 15 minutes!”

The concept of the event was to enjoy a hamburger with a Boys and Girls Club youth while he or she dined on a steak. Dominique Dawes, Olympic Gold Medalist in gymnastics and USA Gymnast Hall of Fame Inductee was the guest speaker. Entertainment was provided by Jason Hewlett, a celebrity impersonator who has performed for nationally televised events and charity fundraisers.
