Company Assembles Essential Intellectual Property Necessary to Launch First Broadband Network Focused Exclusively on Grassroots Youth Sports

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--MaxxAthlete, the leading digital media company dedicated to grassroots sports, announced today that it has acquired the assets of VisionSports, HoopTV.net, and MaxAthlete, three prominent providers of online and event-based youth sports services. With the combined infrastructure and expertise provided by the three firms, MaxxAthlete has amassed the necessary ingredients to launch the industrys first broadband network for youth sports.

MaxxAthlete now owns three of the top youth sports brands for event management, Internet video streaming and Web-based sports infrastructure services, remarked Michael L. Mahoney, CEO of MaxxAthlete. The company now has the essential intellectual property to make its pioneering digital sports concept possible. Programming and performance content that is generated at VisionSports events will be streamed live by HoopTV, and integrated with MaxxAthletes Web broadcast platform.

VisionSports, based in Houston, is the industrys leading grassroots sports event management company and operator of six of the premier amateur basketball tournaments in the U.S. HoopTV.net (Raleigh, NC) has provided digital video streaming and related services for the grassroots segment to many NBA teams as well as ESPN, Fox Sports Net, and CBS Sports.

MaxxAthlete, headquartered in Manhattan Beach, California, is the recognized leader in Web-based sports infrastructure services. The firms unique online player profiles support a series of products including a college coaches recruiting network as well as tournament and team Web sites.

Series A Funding

MaxxAthlete also announced that it has raised a round of Series A private equity financing to provide working capital for the company. MaxxAthlete has been overwhelmed by the interest the investment community has shown for this sector of the marketplace, Mahoney stated. Our initial investors include four former technology entrepreneurs that have successfully monetized their businesses by selling their companies to Cisco, IBM, Veritas and McAfee.

MaxxAthlete intends to aggressively market its network of online media properties to players, fans, coaches, teams and college recruiters. The companys corporate Web portal, which details the various properties and offers links to the affiliated sites as they become available, can be found at www.maxxathlete.com.
