Purple Beverage Company Appoints Rafael Roman as Regional Sales Manager for New York Metropolitan Area
Formerly with POM Wonderful, He Combines Proven Sales Record with Extensive Industry Experience
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Purple Beverage Company, Inc. (OTCBB: PPBV), maker of the all-natural antioxidant-rich beverage, Purple, today announced the hiring of Rafael Roman as Regional Sales Manager for the New York Metropolitan Area. Roman joins the Purple team after serving for several years as Territory Manager for POM Wonderful.
“We are extremely excited to have Rafael on our team and especially pleased and honored that he comes from our number one competitor,” said Purple Beverage Company Founder and CEO Ted Farnsworth. “He brings with him not only specific niche knowledge of the antioxidant beverage industry but also a proven track record in new brand recognition within this highly-competitive market. His decision to move to Purple definitely serves to highlight the product’s potential.”
“I am thrilled to be working with Purple Beverage Company to build the Purple brand throughout the New York Metropolitan Area,” said Roman. “Purple has seen explosive growth since its launch. It was easy for me to place my full support and endorsement behind this quality product and I look forward to advancing Purple’s reach throughout the entire region.”
During his tenure with POM Wonderful, Roman, 35, of New York City, handled numerous accounts and supervised personnel responsible for sizable annual sales. Additionally, he successfully introduced new company brands and packaging to key accounts. Prior to joining POM Wonderful, Roman served as Distribution Supervisor and Business Development Manager for Odwalla Incorporated, one of the country’s foremost health beverage companies owned by The Coca Cola Company. While with Odwalla, Roman transformed the company’s lowest-producing sales territories into the highest-producing territories. Roman joined Odwalla after serving as Assistant Manager of store operations for Healthy Pleasures in New York.
“New York consumers who have tasted Purple have already given it their enthusiastic stamp of approval,” said Farnsworth. “With Rafael on the team, we look forward to increasing Purple’s brand recognition until it becomes a household name in every home in the area.”
Purple is a unique and tasty blend of seven of the world’s most powerful antioxidant-rich juices, including the exotic acai berry, black cherry, pomegranate, black currant, purple plum, cranberry and blueberry. The health benefits of these juices are packed into an all-natural, no-sugar added beverage that is perfect as an on-the-go drink or as part of a healthy fruit smoothie. Since debuting in 2007, Purple has been praised by such high-profile publications as Health Magazine and Family Circle.
Additionally, because adding alcohol to antioxidant-rich berries increases their antioxidant capacity – a fact confirmed by researchers from the United States Department of Agriculture and by a study by researchers at Kasetsart University in Thailand – Purple is becoming one of the most popular antioxidant cocktail trends in nightclubs and lounges.
Purple can be found in health food stores, restaurants, delis, drug stores, supermarkets and convenience stores in select locations, including New York, Los Angeles, Miami and Hawaii. In February, Purple became available in select GNC stores, and look for it nationwide in early 2008. For more information, visit www.drinkpurple.com.
