Xirrus Enhances Voice-over-Wi-Fi (VoWiFi) Support in Its Award-Winning Wireless LAN Array; Communique to Feature Xirrus Solutions in Converged Voice and Data Deployments
Xirrus has also signed Communique, a California-based provider of complete voice and data solutions, to its PartnerAdvantage Program. Communique will leverage the comprehensive performance and deployment advantages inherent in the Wireless LAN Array to deliver cost-effective converged Wi-Fi networks.
An established provider of comprehensive telecom solutions, Communique believes that converged Wi-Fi networks have great potential in helping enterprises leverage to reduce voice communication costs. "The Wireless LAN Array from Xirrus has given us a more efficient and profitable way to help customers deploy voice," says Bob Fudurich, President and CEO of Communique. "Delivering far greater coverage and capacity than competing approaches using a fraction of the devices, Xirrus has introduced a vastly superior TCO model and their training and support have been excellent."
The Wireless LAN Array: Architected for VoWiFi
By combining the Wireless LAN switch and up to sixteen Integrated Access Points in a single device, the Wireless LAN Array minimizes latency caused by roaming in voice applications while providing the needed bandwidth to support voice alongside data without incurring performance degradation. The Wireless LAN Array's revolutionary architecture vastly simplifies network design and deployment with functions such as call admission, load balancing and QoS performed at the edge to minimize delay, a critical advantage in VoWiFi deployments.
To optimize performance in converged deployments, Xirrus allows policy-based segregation of data and voice traffic over the same wireless interface ensuring seamless operation of both. The Wireless LAN Array's tri-mode support for 802.11a and 802.11 b/g optimizes the use of all available non-overlapping channels in both the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands to promote a simple migration to the 802.11a standard that best supports voice and multimedia applications. By maximizing available channels, the Wireless LAN Array overcomes issues of contention that compromise latency and jitter in first-generation architectures. The Wireless LAN Array also features a Multi-sector Antenna System delivering a larger coverage area while drastically reducing the number of deployed devices.
