DIY Network’s Award Winning Interactive
Home Building Series, Blog Cabin
Set to Premiere Third Season
on August 20 at 9 p.m. ET

One Lucky Viewer to Win
“Citizen Designed” Mountainside Cabin

NEW YORK-- From the lot and floor plan all the way down to the bathroom tile and wall color, millions logged on to DIYNetwork.com to participate in “citizen design” to help create a mountainside vacation home. Built by a roster of DIY Network’s expert hosts, the process will be documented in the third season of DIY Network’s extremely popular series, Blog Cabin. The first-ever interactive home building series, which was recognized by the Consumer Electronics Association with a Global Media Award for Outstanding Platform – Interactive in 2008, premieres August 20 at 9 p.m. ET and airs every Thursday at 9 p.m. ET and 9:30 p.m. ET.

In January of this year, viewers were invited to DIYNetwork.com to vote on more than 50 different design features for the fabulous mountainside property. With nearly four million votes cast and thousands of bloggers participating in ongoing interactive dialogue, DIY Network viewers can watch the walls take shape next month in each half-hour installment of the 10-episode series, as well as log on to DIYNetwork.com from August 14-October 2 for a chance to win the cabin, which will be given away to one lucky sweepstakes winner in late fall.

"Blog Cabin was the first interactive, home-building show on television and we continue to raise the bar both on-air and online,” said Andy Singer, DIY Network’s head of programming. "Since interactivity is in DIY Network's DNA, shows like Blog Cabin are a great example of how we find innovating and exciting ways to offer the DIY audience a rich, multiplatform experience."

Licensed contractor and home improvement expert Amy Matthews will host the third season of Blog Cabin. Numerous DIY expert hosts, such as landscape contractor Ahmed Hassan (Yard Crashers, Blog Cabin Season 2) licensed contractor Jason Cameron (Desperate Landscapes, Man Caves), licensed contractor Matt Blashaw (Project Xtreme, Deconstruction), stone and mason craftsmen Dean Marsico and Derek Stearns (Indoors Out, Rock Solid), tool expert Chris Grundy (Cool Tools) project manager Matt Muenster (BATHtastic!), carpenter and electrician, Marc Bartolomeo (Kitchen Impossible), master builder Jimmy DiResta (Against the Grain), contractor Josh Temple (House Crashers) and Kevin O’Connor (This Old House) will join Matthews to bring the mountainside retreat to life. DIY Network’s expert hosts also keep bloggers and viewers up-to-date throughout the building process with video blogs - giving a sneak peek of what’s coming up next on the Blog Cabin series.

DIY Network’s 2009 Blog Cabin is being built in cooperation with Renaissance Ventures, Greenstone Builders, and The Preserve Communities on a mountainside property provided by The Preserve at Little Pine in western North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains. The series premiered in 2007 and has been a huge success online and on-air. From September 1 to November 1, tours of this year's Blog Cabin are open to the public.
