TORONTO--()--TransCore’s Canadian Freight Index based on Loadlink® freight matching data sees increase in year-over-year load volumes. Loadlink metrics for Canada indicate the daily average posting of loads has increased 56 percent in February 2010 versus February 2009. Truck postings have decreased 10 percent for the same time frame, likely indicating that excess capacity is being trimmed or that carriers are filling up with freight from contract shipments. There has been an overall improvement in truck to load ratio of 42 percent YOY.
“Trucking has seen one of the most challenging periods in the last year, but we are seeing substantial increases in load posting volumes and carrier searches.”
Cross border loads posted have gone up by 63 percent in February 2010 over the same time last year, another possible sign of market improvement. These numbers reflect only actual load postings and do not include carrier truck searches which have also seen substantial increases.
Claudia Milicevic, general manager of TransCore’s Link Logistics based in Toronto, stated, “Trucking has seen one of the most challenging periods in the last year, but we are seeing substantial increases in load posting volumes and carrier searches.”
TransCore established the largest freight-matching network in North America by merging both U.S.-based DAT Services and Canadian based Link Logistics online services. Today, Loadlink offers more than 150,000 available loads and trucks daily along with access to other services such as Quickpay factoring, credit reports, private networks, mileage software and more.
Milicevic added, “To further aid in evaluating Canadian data and emerging trends across organizations, TransCore has created strategic relationships with the Transport Institute of the University of Manitoba, invested in advanced technology, and cemented existing partnerships with clients and industry stakeholders to provide additional value to our customers.”
Close to 5,000 transportation companies across Canada use TransCore’s Loadlink freight and equipment matching service to post available freight and match freight with trucks to deliver loads on a daily basis.
