Filip Technologies Names Patrick McDevitt Senior Vice President of Engineering
Former MapQuest and TomTom Executive to Lead Software Development for Wearable Phone and Locator for Kids
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Filip Technologies™, developer of FiLIP™, the award-winning wearable phone and locator for kids, today announced that Patrick McDevitt has joined the company as senior vice president of engineering. A former senior executive at MapQuest and TomTom, McDevitt will be in charge of the overall direction and growth of the company’s software engineering team as they develop the next generation of wearable products for kids. He will report directly to Jonathan Peachey, CEO of Filip Technologies.

McDevitt lead MapQuest’s expansion into mobile native apps and location-based advertising at MapQuest as vice president of engineering. He joined MapQuest from TomTom, where he formed and managed a team focused on community mapping, incorporating GPS data and customer feedback from more than 40 million consumer devices. Before TomTom, he held senior engineering positions at Tele Atlas where he led the company’s efforts to develop a global digital map. Most recently, McDevitt was senior vice president of engineering at AOL where he spearheaded the integration of location-based services into the company’s advertising and brand offerings.
McDevitt has also served on the Patent Review Committees for both AOL and TomTom and has co-authored several pending patents on location-based advertising, digital mapping and geofencing.
