Conference to update Hollywood professionals on emerging “content technologies” and rollout progress for high dynamic range, color gamut, 4K, and UHD

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--To better prepare Hollywood content stakeholders for business decisions involving the rollout of 4K, UHD, and high dynamic range technologies, The International 3D & Advanced Imaging Society and the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) have partnered to produce a special “Content Technology” seminar in Hollywood on September 24th, 2014 from 9am-1pm.

“Executives in the content creation and distribution business will be making critical business decisions in 2015 about how to manage the emerging technologies of high dynamic range, wider color gamut, 4K, and UHD”

The event will bring together content professionals and executives tasked with managing the next generation of content technologies emerging in the marketplace in 2015. The seminar is open to entertainment industry professionals and will be held at the Paramount Pictures Studio Theater in Hollywood.

“Executives in the content creation and distribution business will be making critical business decisions in 2015 about how to manage the emerging technologies of high dynamic range, wider color gamut, 4K, and UHD,” said Society Chairman Mike DeValue of Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. “This partnership between the Society and the NAB will allow us to get professionals on the same page with the best data and business perspectives available,” he added.

“Preparing individuals and businesses for the future is at the core of NAB Show’s mission,” said Chris Brown, NAB executive vice president, Conventions and Business Operations. “Through our collaboration with the Society on ‘Con-Tech 2015,’ we hope to advance the conversation on topics that are top of mind for media and entertainment professionals and to give them the tools and information they need to grow their business.”

Bringing the latest global developments and perspectives to the seminar will be Sam Matheny, Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of NAB Labs, Washington D.C.; Roland Vlaicu, VP of Consumer Imaging at Dolby Laboratories, San Francisco; Wim Buyens, CEO of Entertainment for Barco, The Netherlands; Simon Craddock, CEO of Onsight, London; Doug Davis, President and CEO of BitSpeed, Los Angeles; Percy Fung, CEO of Film Magic, Hong Kong; Michael Hsu, CEO of SuperD, Beijing; Pete Lude, CTO of Mission Rock Digital LLC, San Francisco; Ron Martin, VP Panasonic Hollywood Labs, Los Angeles; Phil McKinney, President and CEO of Cable Labs, Denver, and Kathleen Schröter, Executive Manager of The Fraunhofer Institute, Berlin.

The conference will spotlight the fast emerging “high dynamic range” and “color gamut” premium content technologies, which are taking center stage in Hollywood. The seminar will also include the latest information on the progress of 4K production and delivery to consumers from key motion picture, broadcast, cable, and satellite organizations.

“2015 will be a critical year for the entertainment industry. Increased competition from a growing number of content providers will require strategic business decisions about what technologies to bet on and implement,” said Society President Jim Chabin. “‘Con-Tech 2015’ is the opportunity to bring everyone together for a preview conversation to make those decisions smart ones. We have guests coming in from China, Europe and here in Hollywood to share the latest industry information and opinions,” added Chabin.
