Micrium Adds Debugging Interfaces, Data Logging and IoT support to uC/Probe Graphical Live Watch
New features enhance tool's capability, broaden interface support and enable its use with Internet of Thing (IoT) devices
WESTON, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Micrium, the premier RTOS provider for embedded systems, today announced the release of uC/Probe Graphical Live Watch™ V3.3. uC/Probe is a Windows-based tool that allows engineers to graphically visualize and change the behavior of embedded systems at run-time. uC/Probe is a completely agnostic tool that can be used with or without other Micrium software and on virtually any CPU/MCU.
“Developing projects using uC/Probe for Cypress PSoC 4 and PSoC 5LP development kits has been a very simple process”
uC/Probe V3.3 now includes an interface to Cypress PSoC4 and PSoC5 interface as well as a CMSIS-DAP interface; a debug unit to connect to the CoreSight™ Debug Access Port.
"Developing projects using uC/Probe for Cypress PSoC 4 and PSoC 5LP development kits has been a very simple process," said John Weil, Senior Director of PSoC Marketing and Applications for Cypress’s Programmable Systems Division. “You can extend the $25 PSoC Pioneer kit to add virtual LCDs, switches and gauges in just a few minutes. Data visualization with uC/Probe will allow PSoC customers to get their product to market more quickly. uC/Probe is an excellent addition to any designer’s toolkit.”
“uC/Probe is an essential tool for any developer who uses an ARM® Cortex®-M processor based device and wants to quickly create dashboards to monitor and change the behavior of a running system,” said Reinhard Keil, Director MCU Tools, ARM. “uC/Probe uses the CoreSight™ debug hardware and now supports the widely adopted CMSIS-DAP debug interface. It therefore requires no code instrumentation.”
“Allowing designers to visualize their embedded system and change their behavior at run time offers tremendous advantages when debugging these systems," said Jean Labrosse, founder and CEO of Micrium. "With development windows continuing to shrink, using uC/Probe can accelerate time to market, a considerable competitive advantage for designers."
New features of uC/Probe greatly enhance the tool's functionality. For example, the tool supports the MQTT protocol using the JSON format, which greatly simplifies the design and debugging of IoT devices, especially those without local display capabilities.
