Celeno Debuts Android & iOS Enabled Wi-Fi Experience Manager Providing End-Users Unprecedented Control over Their Wireless Home Networks
Enables OEMs and Service Providers to Offer Customers a Superior Home Networking Experience; Technology Already Deployed in Edimax 802.11ac Routers
RA’ANANA, Israel--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Celeno Communications, a leading provider of high-performance Wi-Fi chips and software for home networking applications, today announced the launch of the Wi-Fi Experience Manager, an innovative offering that enables OEMs and Service Providers to offer their customers the ability to easily and intuitively manage their wireless home network. Celeno provides OEMs and Service Providers with an API allowing them to develop their own branded mobile applications to work alongside Wi-Fi access points powered by Celeno’s breakthrough OptimizAIR 2.0 technology.
“It addresses both the end user demand for a superlative Wi-Fi experience, and the business needs of Service Providers who seek to empower their subscribers to control their own home network, and minimize their own operational expenditures, based on simple self-operated tools which complement the Service Providers’ CPE management systems.”
The Wi-Fi Experience Manager is an add-on to Celeno’s OptimizAIR 2.0 Wi-Fi Access Point technology and consists of an app server integrated in the Wi-Fi gateway or router, as well as a mobile application for both Android and iOS platforms. The mobile app empowers the end-user to seamlessly manage their Wi-Fi experience, by easily and intuitively controlling the prioritization and Wi-Fi capacity allocation of different streams and devices in the home – all from their tablet or smartphone. Edimax has recently integrated this technology in their new high-end 802.11ac home routers, powered by Celeno’s CL2200 802.11ac Wi-Fi chip.
End users can dynamically manage the Wi-Fi capacity allocated in the air to each device in the home, guarantee capacity for different streams and services such as video and gaming, modify their network behavior by time of day, and even ensure that guest devices don’t compromise their own private devices. When almost every visitor to a home brings a Wi-Fi enabled device, it’s critical that guest devices don’t grab essential airtime from the home Wi-Fi network, and compromise the quality of experience for important devices used regularly, like OTT video apps, IPTV set top boxes, or work laptops.
“Celeno’s new Wi-Fi Experience Manager is a unique solution, enabling Service Providers and OEMs to offer their customers an intuitive tool to self-manage their Wi-Fi over-the-air experience for the first time,” said Gilad Rozen, CEO of Celeno. “It addresses both the end user demand for a superlative Wi-Fi experience, and the business needs of Service Providers who seek to empower their subscribers to control their own home network, and minimize their own operational expenditures, based on simple self-operated tools which complement the Service Providers’ CPE management systems.”
The Wi-Fi Experience Manager works alongside Celeno’s proprietary Airtime Management software – OptimizAIR 2.0 – a Wi-Fi radio technology which enables the provisioning, enforcement and dynamic allocation of Wi-Fi capacity in the air to different virtual networks, services, and even different clients, all served by the same Wi-Fi Access Point.
