Sports Concussion Specialist Dr. Alissa Wicklund Joins Orthopaedic & Spine Center of the Rockies
FORT COLLINS, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dr. Alissa Wicklund has joined the Orthopaedic & Spine Center of the Rockies as its first sports concussion specialist dedicated to working with athletes in all team and individual sports throughout northern Colorado, Wyoming, and western Nebraska.

Dr. Wicklund is seeing patients at OCR after eight years in private practice as a neuropsychologist and concussion specialist in the Chicago area.
“I love working with athletes to help them return as safely as possible to their sport and other activities,” Dr. Wicklund said.
Dr. Wicklund treats patients with lingering symptoms following a concussion, as well as individuals who have suffered multiple concussions during their lifetime or athletic career.
“We are very pleased to have Alissa add her specialization to OCR and help us expand our sports medicine program,” said Dr. Rocci Trumper, orthopaedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist.
Dr. Wicklund will work with OCR’s nine sports medicine physicians, its certified athletic trainers, and other staff in providing concussion diagnosis and treatment for athletes. She will also work with the athletes’ coaches, teams, and family members.
She holds board certification in her specialty of neuropsychology. Dr. Wicklund earned a PhD from the Northwestern University School of Medicine in 2004. She then completed a two-year specialized fellowship in neuropsychology at Northwestern, before entering private practice. She is a member of the Sports Neuropsychology Society, and has received additional specialized training in treating sports concussions.
Dr. Wicklund is a member of several other professional associations and has published numerous articles in professional journals as well as book chapters in her specialty.
Outside of her professional work, she enjoys traveling, hiking, biking, and attending sporting events time with her husband and three children.
