AllBud Donates $2,000 to Medical Marijuana PTSD Research
TUCSON, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--In the wake of their successful Southern Arizona Appreciation Party, the AllBud.com team has made a donation of $2,000 to support new research on the use of medical marijuana as a treatment for PTSD. On Wednesday, June 18th, 2014, AllBud.com hosted patients, dispensary agents, doctors, cultivators, medical professionals and other supportive locals as a way to thank the Southern Arizona MMJ community for its help during the launch of the new site.
“Advancing medical marijuana research is extremely important to us as an active company within the industry, particularly since many members of our team, including myself, are patients. Scientific research will help doctors, patients and the broader community understand more about the amazing treatment potential of cannabis.”
Kristin Winters, Vice President of AB Resources, LLC said, “Advancing medical marijuana research is extremely important to us as an active company within the industry, particularly since many members of our team, including myself, are patients. Scientific research will help doctors, patients and the broader community understand more about the amazing treatment potential of cannabis.”
The study, being conducted by Sue Sisley, M.D., through the University of Arizona, has an estimated research budget of $885,000 and was approved by the federal government, but has since been delayed from state funding due to government processes and political issues. “We are happy to make our contribution but realize that there is much more needed to fund the project. We have included a donation link to MAPS.org on Allbud.com for other members of the community to help out, and we plan to make additional donations down the road,” added Kristin Winters.
According to MAPS.org, the study “will explore whether smoking or vaporizing marijuana can help reduce PTSD symptoms in 70 U.S. veterans with chronic, treatment-resistant posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Participants must be U.S. veterans, men or women, aged 18 or older with a diagnosis of PTSD that has not improved after trying either medication or psychotherapy.” Additional information is available at http://www.maps.org/research/mmj/
The AllBud.com team hopes to host additional events, both in Arizona and across the country, to bring the medical marijuana communities together and help MMJ education efforts.
