--(BUSINESS WIRE)--A photo is available on Business Wire's website and AP PhotoExpress of the Stanley Cup cake created for the LA Kings by Cupcake Wars Winner Stephanie Franz of The Strand House.
Pastry Chef and 2011 Cupcake Wars winner Stephanie Franz of The Strand House, with the help of Shade Hotel’s Sous Chef Ashley Oates, created an edible replica of the NHL’s Stanley Cup Trophy, which stands 3 feet tall and weighs 130 pounds, including 40 pounds of fondant. The chefs spent over four days perfecting the championship cake in Circa’s kitchen, in what was truly a team effort similar to what the LA Kings displayed on the ice. There was even a custom stamp created so that each player’s name was inscribed on the cake before it was dusted with edible silver dust that gave the confection the same luster as the iconic trophy. The sweet treat was presented to the 2014 Stanley Cup Champions at their Stanley Cup Party held at The Strand House on Wednesday, June 18 following the LA King’s Victory Parade through the South Bay’s Beach Cities.
