PALO ALTO, Calif. & BARCELONA, Spain--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Cloud computing increasingly is the preferred platform for connected businesses seeking to develop and host applications, and make APIs available to their employees, customers and partners. WSO2 addresses this demand with two public platform as a service (PaaS) offerings, WSO2 App Cloud and WSO2 API Cloud. Beta versions of the Summer 2014 releases are now available for developers to evaluate. The announcement is being made in conjunction with WSO2Con Europe 2014, which runs June 16-18, 2014 in Barcelona, Spain.
“WSO2 technology has long been used by some of the largest enterprises for API management and application development and hosting”
WSO2 App Cloud and WSO2 API Cloud combine robust, proven application life-cycle and API management functionality with the agility and ease of instant, self-provisioning. Registration simply requires an email address, and both services are readily available to use as a service from the WSO2 website. Throughout the beta period, both public PaaS offerings will be available at no cost. Service pricing will be announced when the Summer 2014 releases go into full production.
“WSO2 technology has long been used by some of the largest enterprises for API management and application development and hosting,” said Dmitry Sotnikov, WSO2 vice president – cloud. “With the Summer 2014 beta releases of WSO2 API Cloud and WSO2 App Cloud, we are democratizing the technology and making it available to individual developers and companies of any size.”
WSO2 App Cloud
WSO2 App Cloud is an application PaaS (aPaaS) designed to reduce costs and accelerate application development and delivery with integrated application life-cycle management and DevOps tools.
The Summer 2014 release is based on the 100% open source WSO2 App Factory 2.0, which launched today. It enables continuous cloud delivery through a shared, self-service, and elastic enterprise DevOps platform that empowers teams to collaboratively create, develop and deploy enterprise applications into cloud environments—without the delay of server provisioning. Robust governance ensures compliance with IT, corporate and government policies. At the same time, self-service capabilities and automation dramatically accelerate development and improve productivity.

WSO2 API Cloud
WSO2 API Cloud is based on the award-winning WSO2 API Manager 1.7. WSO2 API Manager is the first 100% open source API management product to combine easy, managed API access with full API governance and analysis. It lets organizations expose business capabilities as managed APIs and provides off-the-shelf potential for advertising and selling business APIs.
WSO2 API Cloud offers an API Store that lets IT organizations set up their own Apple or Google Marketplace-like store where developers can easily subscribe to and consume APIs. Meanwhile it provides API publishers with complete API lifecycle governance—from creating to publishing, deprecating and retiring APIs—as well as analytics and metrics to support decision-making and enforce service-level agreement (SLA) policies.
