Time Warner Cable Business Class Earns Metro Ethernet Forum CE 2.0 Certification for Wholesale Ethernet Service Types
Becomes First North American Service Provider to Achieve Certifications for All Eight MEF CE2.0 Services
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Time Warner Cable Business Class (TWCBC) today announced it has received Carrier Ethernet (CE) 2.0 certifications from the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) for the company’s Wholesale E-Access (Access EPL/Access EVPL) services. TWCBC has now earned MEF CE 2.0 certifications for all eight service configurations, becoming the first North American company to do so. In January, TWCBC was certified for the retail service types: E-Line (EPL/EVPL), E-LAN (EP-LAN/EVP-LAN) and E-Tree (EP-Tree/EVP-Tree). The company also has a total of 81 MEF-certified employees, 24 of whom are CE 2.0 certified.
“We are committed to being the number one choice for commercial services and this recognition is part of our continuing effort to move up market and provide targeted solutions for mid-market and enterprise organizations, as well as for carrier partners by delivering wholesale service.”
“As North America’s first and only provider with all eight CE 2.0 certifications, Time Warner Cable Business Class provides reliable, scalable, and feature-rich Ethernet services. MEF is the recognized defining body for Carrier Ethernet and their certification provides assurance that we’re delivering high performing, standards-compliant solutions to meet the complex networking needs of our customers,” said Phil Meeks, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Time Warner Cable Business Services. “We are committed to being the number one choice for commercial services and this recognition is part of our continuing effort to move up market and provide targeted solutions for mid-market and enterprise organizations, as well as for carrier partners by delivering wholesale service.”
TWCBC’s Wholesale E-Access services provide reliable, ubiquitous metro access with dedicated, scalable capacity and flexible bandwidth options. These services are delivered through over 75 External Network-to-Network Interface (ENNI) locations across the company’s footprint.
TWCBC owns and operates an extensive, 147,000 fiber-route-mile network infrastructure in more than 30 major metro markets nationwide with over 58,000 fiber-lit buildings. Wholesale E- Access speeds range from 5 Mbps to 10 Gbps (speeds available in most areas) and is backed by industry leading Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
A recognized industry leader, TWCBC has been at the forefront of Ethernet services innovation. Most recently, the company was named the top Multiple System Operator (MSO), and number five overall, on Vertical Systems Group’s 2013 U.S. Carrier Ethernet LEADERBOARD. TWCBC was the first Multiple System Operator (MSO) in the world to receive MEF 14 certification (part of MEF CE 1.0) in 2008. In addition, the company was a leading innovator in delivering Ethernet services over DOCSIS, which lead to an additional MEF recognition as the North American Carrier Ethernet Service Provider of the Year for Service Innovation, also in 2008.
“The importance of reliable connectivity for businesses today cannot be overstated. Ethernet often represents one of the key, mission-critical components of any organization’s IT infrastructure. Therefore, having all eight CE 2.0 certifications from the Metro Ethernet Forum ensures the highest quality standards are being delivered and provides a level of confidence that non-certified service might not,” said Courtney Munroe, Group Vice President, WW Telecommunications, Mobility and Network Infrastructure, IDC.
“CE 2.0 is a highly challenging and significant accreditation to achieve and creates an important standard of deployment for the marketplace. Therefore we’re happy to see Time Warner Cable Business Class become the first North American company to receive all eight certifications,” said Nan Chen, President, MEF.
