South Station Announces Completion of New Men’s Restroom
Landmark South Station Continues Transformation to High-Quality Modern-Era Transportation Hub
BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Equity Office announces the completion of the second phase of the South Station’s restroom renovations – the new men’s restroom is complete and commuters will be able to use the new restrooms starting Monday, February 17, 2014. Additional security and signage will be in place to direct commuters to the new area, which is located at the site of the former women’s restroom.

The new accessible men’s restroom fixtures will increase from 14 to 18, with all of the modern amenities of an airport-quality restroom. This is an important step in the renovation of the 115-year-old South Station, which is an historic landmark.

CVS/pharmacy began construction of its two-level store complete with a two-story escalator and elevator, with a planned opening in June of 2014.
Gilbane Building Company has been contracted to carry out the landlord improvements in South Station. Gilbane has been a leading Boston construction firm since 1946.
South Station is located in the heart of Boston’s major business district and serves as the major downtown commuter rail station. It is a hub for the MBTA, Boston’s primary public transportation system, and a main stop for Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor Service. It is estimated that 130,000 travelers pass through South Station each day.
