eyeSight brings intuitive gesture control to latest OPPO smartphone
TEL AVIV, Israel--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Gesture recognition technology leader, eyeSight, today announced its latest gesture solution for mobile devices is incorporated in the brand new OPPO R827T smartphone, providing intuitive touch-free interaction to the brand for the first time.
“We’re extremely satisfied with eyeSight’s solution and what it’s brought to the OPPO R827T, resulting in immediate positive customer feedback. The software means we can provide a unique experience to our users, delivering more enjoyable and simplified journeys through the phone's features.”
The gesture control experience allows OPPO R827T users to navigate the main menu and photo gallery using simple right / left air-swipes from up to an impressive 50cm away from the device – a distance that is better than other mobile products with gesture already available in the market.
The R827T also includes OPPO’s own “glove mode”, allowing users to touch and operate the smartphone when wearing gloves.
eyeSight’s gesture recognition means the phone does not need to directly face the user; with a tilt of up to 80 degrees allowing continual gesture capabilities even at an angle. The latest software ensures the smartphone offers incredibly stable performances with high sensitivity to motions, even in low-light environments.
In addition to eyeSight, OPPO has support from several other major partners including Qualcomm, MTK, JDI, Sony, Samsung, OV, and Dolby among others, bringing the latest mobile software and hardware into one easy-to-use device.
Gideon Shmuel, eyesight CEO commented: “Gesture control is providing natural and perceptive interaction within mobiles, with the ease of touch-less motions offering a standout device within an already-crowded smartphone market. Our work with OPPO highlights how gesture can offer a complete package for users, with the OPPO R827T bringing a multitude of refreshing and innovative features to one device.”
OPPO Mobile Product Manager, Tang Jie, commented: “We’re extremely satisfied with eyeSight’s solution and what it’s brought to the OPPO R827T, resulting in immediate positive customer feedback. The software means we can provide a unique experience to our users, delivering more enjoyable and simplified journeys through the phone's features.”
Originally launched in China (December 2013), OPPO released an updated version on 26th January 2014 to embrace the gesture control capabilities from eyeSight. With a recommended retail price of 1,798 RMB in China (approx. £179 / $297), the OPPO R827T with eyeSight technology is currently being sold in China, Indonesia and Vietnam with retail extending to India, Malaysia and Mexico in the pipeline.
