Seniors Can Stay Healthy and Fit With Free Programs Offered by SCAN Health Plan Arizona in March
PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Seniors have an opportunity to stay healthy and fit by improving their knowledge of cooking, learning new ways to exercise, and participating in wellness classes offered by SCAN Health Plan Arizona.
A special event, “Caring for the Caregiver Yoga Workshop,” will be held on Thursday, March 20, from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. Presented by well-known instructor Angie Moore, the workshop features a program developed by Catherine Genzler, E-RYT, and will cover meditative techniques to reduce stress, simple chair-based yoga postures, and methods of moving to improve spatial awareness, with a focus on having fun. Participants do not need prior yoga experience to take part in the workshop.
Exercise classes offered by SCAN provide participants with an opportunity to increase their skill and endurance in a supportive and social environment. Classes include:

- Yoga for Every Body – A gentle yoga class specifically designed for seniors with movement disorders. Participants will develop an overall sense of well-being, improved mobility and confidence. Held every Thursday from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.
- Zumba Plus – A Latin-inspired dance and fitness class for those 50 plus. Held every Thursday from 10:45 – 11:45 a.m.
A cooking demonstration celebrating National Nutrition Month will teach participants how to “eat clean” by focusing on whole foods. The demonstration will feature delicious and easy-to-prepare dishes that use food that is not processed. It will be held on March 19 from 1 – 2:30 p.m.
