AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Compass Learning, a leading provider of K-12 personalized learning solutions, today announced that the University of California approved a set of its courses based on the University’s a-g course criteria. The rigorous and award-winning content selected meets the University’s standards for college-preparatory coursework.
“The selection by the University of California highlights Compass Learning’s rich history in developing quality, rigorous content that ensures both students and teachers succeed in the classroom”
The Compass Learning courses approved include: English I, English II, English III, English IV, Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry.
“The selection by the University of California highlights Compass Learning’s rich history in developing quality, rigorous content that ensures both students and teachers succeed in the classroom,” said Lynelle Morgenthaler, Vice President of Content for Compass Learning. “We’re very excited about our work with educators in the state and look forward to a very fruitful partnership that ensures students stay in school to achieve college and career success.”
To be approved by the University of California, courses first needed to be approved as online courses from the California Learning Resource Network (CLRN). To earn CLRN-certified status, online courses must address at least 80 percent of the Common Core or California standards and 80 percent of iNACOL's Standards for Quality Online Courses including all of the identified online course power standards.
The University of California established the a-g requirement in 2008. The requirement ensures that students have attained a body of general knowledge which provides them with the breadth and perspective they need to pursue new, more advanced content in college.
