Andersen Corporation Names New Chief Human Resources Officer
BAYPORT, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Andersen Corporation today named Karen Richard as senior vice president and chief Human Resources officer. She succeeds SVP and Chief Administrative Officer Mary Carter, who is retiring Feb. 14.

“Karen brings a strong track record in building company culture, engaging employees and developing leaders,” Andersen Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Jay Lund said. “She is a well-rounded and accomplished leader with a unique blend of Finance, Sales Strategy and Human Resources experience. She will be a great addition to the Andersen leadership team.”
Richard comes to Andersen from Minnesota-based mattress manufacturer and retailer Select Comfort, where she spent the majority of her career in progressive positions, most recently as their CHRO and senior vice president of Human Capital. At Andersen, she will be responsible for Human Resources, Corporate Communications, Community Relations, and Code and Regulatory Affairs. Karen serves on the board of directors for Make A Wish Minnesota. She has also served on the executive advisory board of People Answers, and on the board of directors, as board and executive committee chair and as a member of the Finance committee at St. David’s Center.
Mary Carter retires after 16 years with Andersen. “During Mary’s career with Andersen, we benefited from her extensive Human Resources experience as well as her leadership, which spanned development of the functions of Quality, Sustainability, Real Estate and Facilities, Communications, Community Relations, and Code and Regulatory Affairs,” Lund said. “She built an exceptional team of strong leaders, who will carry on her legacy of doing the right thing and leading for the future.”
