Bonneville County, Idaho Selects Hart InterCivic As Election Solutions Vendor
Bonneville Becomes First Idaho County to Choose Hart since Statewide Certification in November
AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Hart InterCivic, a full service election solutions innovator and national leader in election technology based in Austin, Texas announced today that Bonneville County, Idaho has selected the Hart Voting System to replace their existing system. Bonneville is the first county in Idaho to select Hart as an elections solutions provider since the Hart Voting System’s state certification in November of 2013. The deal is valued at over $700,000.
“Making the switch from our old punch card system to the eScan, Ballot Now and eSlate Disabled Access Unit from Hart was an easy decision for us”
Bonneville County was motivated to refresh due to the age and decreased availability of replacement parts for their current punch card system and Hart’s reputation for great customer support. Hart InterCivic was able to provide better value and significantly lower total cost of ownership for programming, licensing, and on-going maintenance on newer, more reliable and more easily transportable equipment.
“Making the switch from our old punch card system to the eScan, Ballot Now and eSlate Disabled Access Unit from Hart was an easy decision for us,” said Penny Manning, Bonneville County Elections Administrator. “We were concerned about the decreasing availability of the older equipment, and about how difficult it was to transport and set up.”
“Hart offered us a great package that will allow us to transition from our old system to a very structured and managed process, giving us great confidence in a successful rollout for the Bonneville County voters,” said Ron Longmore, Bonneville County Clerk. “We are looking forward to the overall ease of use of the new system, lower total cost of ownership benefits, and to Hart’s great customer service.”
“We are thrilled to have Bonneville County select Hart to provide their new voting system,” said Ron Clevenger, Vice President at Hart InterCivic and Ada County, Idaho resident. “Hart is proud to enter the Idaho election market by delivering our trusted Hart Voting System. We look forward to working with Bonneville County in the 2014 elections and in the years to come.”
The Hart Voting System is a multi-faceted voting system and the following HVS equipment has been certified in the State of Idaho since November:
eScan™: The eScan is a precinct-based, digital ballot-imaging component that relies on the fully integrated functionality of the Hart Voting System. After marking a paper ballot, the voter feeds it directly into the eScan at the precinct.
Ballot Now™: Ballot Now is Hart’s digital-imaging paper ballot component, which manages the printing, scanning, and resolution of paper ballots for absentee, by-mail, and in-person voting. Ballot Now does not require ballots to be printed on templates for specific precincts or ballot styles.
eSlate® Disabled Access Unit™: The eSlate machine is Hart InterCivic’s electronic voting device that allows voters to view, vote and record electronic ballots. The Disabled Access Unit™ is an additional module that modifies an eSlate to include an audio ballot reader and input jacks for adaptive devices, providing access features for voters with visual impairments, blindness, mobility impairments or literacy challenges.
