LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--School choice supporters in Las Vegas will screen a new documentary film and host a roundtable discussion about the need for increased education options in Nevada on January 28, organizers announced today.
“The Ticket: The Many Faces of School Choice”
The event, which is hosted by Nevada Policy Research Institute, The LIBRE Initiative and RISE Education Resource Center, will be held at 7:00 PM at Hope Baptist Church, 850 E. Cactus Ave., Las Vegas, 89183. It is timed to coincide with National School Choice Week 2014, the nation’s largest-ever celebration of educational opportunity.
The event will feature a screening of the 38-minute film, “The Ticket: The Many Faces of School Choice,” a new documentary by award-winning filmmaker Bob Bowdon.
The film highlights the changes in the school choice landscape across the country – which has transformed from a collection of individual factions to a movement rallying around empowering all parents with the freedom to decide the right educational choices for their children. It examines school choice options in Los Angeles, Topeka, Kansas City, Chicago, Cleveland, Exton, Pa. and Rochester, NY.
In addition to Bowdon, speakers at the roundtable discussion will include Elissa Wahl, co-founder of the Nevada Homeschool Network and RISE Education Resource Center. The roundtable will be moderated by Kevin Wall, host of “Live and Local” on 840 KXNT. Additional panelists will be announced in the upcoming days.
