The TJX Companies, Inc. Reports August 2002 Sales

FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 5, 2002--The TJX Companies, Inc. (NYSE: TJX) today reported August 2002 sales results. Sales for the four-week period ended August 31, 2002 were $920 million, up 11% over $826 million achieved during the same four-week period ended September 1, 2001. For the 30 weeks ended August 31, 2002, sales reached $6,397 million, an increase of 13% over last year's $5,638 million. Consolidated comparable store sales for the four-week period ended August 31, 2002 were up 2% over last year. For the 30-week year-to-date period, consolidated comparable store sales increased 4% over last year.
