The TJX Companies Files SEC-Required Certification of Financial Reports

FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--()--August 12, 2002--The TJX Companies, Inc. (NYSE:TJX) today reported that its Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer submitted written statements under oath to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) pursuant to Commission Order 4-460 in the form prescribed by the SEC. These statements certify that the Company's annual report on Form 10-K for the fiscal year ended January 26, 2002 and subsequent filings with the Commission to date do not contain any untrue statement of material fact or omit any material facts necessary to ensure that the statements in the covered reports are not misleading.
