The TJX Companies, Inc. Reports May 2002 Sales

FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 6, 2002--The TJX Companies, Inc. (NYSE: TJX) today reported May 2002 sales results. Sales for the four-week period ended June 1, 2002 were $884 million, up 12% over $789 million achieved during the same four-week period ended June 2, 2001. For the seventeen weeks ended June 1, 2002, sales reached $3,594 million, an increase of 16% over last year's $3,110 million. Consolidated comparable store sales for the four-week period ended June 1, 2002 increased 3% over last year. For the seventeen-week period ended June 1, 2002, consolidated comparable store sales increased 6%.
